Troubleshooting Common Issues

Solutions to the most frequent email setup problems.

❌ "Authentication Failed" or "Password Incorrect" +
  • Verify you're using your full email address as username (not just "help")
  • Test your password by logging into webmail first
  • Check that Caps Lock is off
  • Ensure no extra spaces in email or password
📡 "Cannot Connect to Server" +
  • Verify internet connection is working
  • Double-check server address: mail.domain.com
  • Try alternate SMTP port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS)
  • Disable VPN temporarily if active
🔒 "SSL Certificate Error" +
  • Accept the certificate if prompted (normal for business email)
  • On Android: Change security to "SSL (Accept all certificates)"
  • Verify your device date/time is correct
  • Incorrect dates cause SSL validation failures
📤 Can Send But Not Receive (or Vice Versa) +
  • Verify both incoming AND outgoing servers are configured
  • Check outgoing server authentication is enabled
  • Confirm username is full email for both servers
  • Try alternate SMTP port: 587 instead of 465
🔄 Emails Not Syncing Across Devices +
  • Ensure you're using IMAP (not POP3) on ALL devices
  • Check sync settings in your email app
  • Remove and re-add account if problems persist
  • Verify "Leave messages on server" is enabled for POP3
